Bio | Fred Berman is an award-winning narrator of more than 400 books with 4 Audies, 16 Earphone Awards, and 2 Odyssey Awards. He has also lent his voice to hundreds of commercials, promos and video games. A New York native, Berman brings energy and enthusiasm to every project, whether it’s mystery or fantasy, biography or YA. He is an accomplished actor of both the stage and screen as well. He is currently the longest running meerkat on Broadway, having performed the role of “Timon” in Disney’s The Lion King at The Minskoff Theatre for the last 14 years. Other NY Theater credits include: The Normal Heart (The Public Theatre), Shockheaded Peter (Little Shubert), Bury the Dead (Transport Group), Room Service (Soho Playhouse), Twelfth Night & A Midsummer Night’s Dream (NY Classical), The Vocal Lords (Theatre at St Clements). Regional: North Shore Music Theatre, Paper Mill, Geva, New Repertory, O’Neill Theatre Center, Cleveland Playhouse, Texas Shakespeare, Maltz Jupiter. Nat’l Tours: The Buddy Holly Story, White Christmas. Film/Television credits include Anora, HBO’s "High Maintenance", "New Amsterdam", "Smash", "Law & Order", "Forever" Putzel, The Judge, Twelve Thirty, A Very Special Episode, Directing Eddie. As a director he has worked at Joe’s Pub (NYC), The Keegan Theatre (DC), The Hangar Theatre (NY), etc. Fred is also a drummer and played for many years with the NYC rock legends, Lisa Jackson & Girl Friday. He's also a huge comic book, movie, and 80's pop-culture nerd, which can be found on full display on the podcast he co-hosts with his two best friends, Opening Weekend. He lives in New York with his wife and two kids, banging out Rush songs on the drums in his basement in his spare time. |
